Best

Joe
"Potter" Moser
May 17th 2005
3-4
"Everything
just kind of came together for me that series and Lord knows I
needed it to against the Champ."
|
| My
first loss was against Joe "Harry Potter" Moser. Potter
was known more for his boyish (I stress that term) good looks and
Dr. Mario skills |
| than
his Beirut prowess at the time. That would all change on Senior
Week. "Senior week?!" I hear you saying, "You're
two years out of college!"
Yeah I know, but I figured the games would be good down in Hilton
Head. Sadly, I struggled all week with my game. I
was digging myself massive holes to start series' and this was no
exception. From what I remember Joe got up 3-1, I
rallied to win Games 5 and 6 in thrilling fashion but immediately
fell behind like 6 cups early on in Game 7 and couldn't ever recover.
I rebutted a few times but it wasn't enough: Joe Moser the Giant
Killer was born. I |
|

|
| got
revenge on him 4-1 later that week
pulling me to 2-1
against
him lifetime. It was a small consolation though: The Champ was no
longer undefeated. May 17th 2005 will forever live in infamy. |

G. Blando

"The
man claimed to be unbeatable. But I, Blando, found it necessary
to prove him wrong. And since then I have let him win every match."
|
| Justin
G. Blando saddled up against an ailing Champ on May 25th 2005 for
only their second Best of 7 against one another. Still reeling from
my |
| devastating
loss but eight days before I made a terrible mistake in underestimating
this upstart contender. Little did I know that while I was in Hilton
Head Blando was establishing himself as one of the most exciting
Beirut prospects in the northeast. His Hoboken flame-throwing was
growing legendary. Blando caught me off guard as he stormed to a
4-2 victory and asserted himself as a Top Tier player. His triumph
made him the toast of the town, but unfortunately Blando was unable
to handle the newfound accolades. Since May 25th, the Champ has
beaten Blando an astounding eleven straight Best of 7s with a 44-8
individual game record. Sadly, Blando was more interested in being
"Hoboken's |
|

|
|
Biggest Socialite" than dedicating himself to staying on the
Top Tier of the Beirut world. |

Scott Whitefield

"I
enjoyed teaching the Champ that Beirut isn't about aiming for
cups, it's about aiming for large general areas."
|
With the weight of nearly a four month win streak and the hopes
and dreams
of millions (or maybe no one) on his back, the Champ was ripe for
devastation on the beaches of Barnegat Light, New Jersey. Things
seemed well in hand after a crushing Game 3 victory with a 9-cup
differential to put the Champ up 2-1. It was at this point Whitefield
and his almost comically high arcing shot became devastating. Infuriated
by Scott's ludicrous comments like the one above, the Champ collapsed
mentally as Whitefield won the next three games. In the Game 6 clincher,
Whitefield delivered a stunning 10-12 performance on the biggest
of stages. He became the first to defeat the Champ since the launch
of CTC, parlaying his 10$ bet into 100$. While he didn't look as
sharp when the Champ won back 50$ in a 4-0 defeat later that day,
no one will ever forget his thunderous Game 6 performance. |

"She
(Beirut) showed that her light doesn't fade but merely dims until
the legends and greats return to the darkened side of the earth.
This weekend these legends made this rotation and reached out
from behind the clouds like the hand of god himself and gently
patted Bucknell and the game of Beirut on the back and said once
and forever "lets play one more." -Dylan
Thomas and Luke Morris

When
two 24 year old men return for Homecoming Weekend on a Wednesday
night things will always get out of hand, no matter how often they
assure
each other it'll be an easy night. What started out as a friendly
exhibition blossomed into a full-blown 10 game Beirut spectacle
until 9am that began with Luke delivering an absolutely crushing
performance as Dave Matthews wailed in the background. This was
the first series loss suffered by the Champ that he can only blame
on the great play of his opponent. Luke, an oldschool Beirut legend
beaten down by hard living, found his old stroke in the delapidated
7th St. "Greenpeace Arena" and appeared ready to take
the Champ's title belt until the Champ rebounded with a 4-1 victory
of his own. With his early struggles against the Champ behind him,
big Luke proved he was once again a Top Tier player. A legends torch
may dim but it will never be extinguished. With the Champ having
fueled his competitive spirit, there's a great chance it'll burn
bright again. Stay tuned for more epic battles between these two
gladiators. |

"Far
better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even
though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits
who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray
twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
-Theodore Roosevelt and Luke Morris

but sometimes I wish they would. (Not in real life, just on the
rectangle.)
I'm getting mighty tired of updating this particular page. Luke
caught me at a rough time, picked his spots, and played a hell
of a match. He's one of the all time greats. Let's see if he can
take over the #1 ranking!! (Sorry Mouth, but then you'd also have
website responsibilities!) (Note 11.5.05: Champ defeated Luke
4-0, his title belt is safe for the time being.) |

Devin Cooch
June 8th 2006
2 -4
"I'm
really not even a good one on one player. Honestly, I'm not."

Devin "The
Beirut Freak" Cooch can say what he wants about his one on
one game but those in the know acknowledge he's one of the games
most fearsome players. With his 30 second pauses lining up shots
and his talkative nature set loose he took the Champ well north
of 4am before KO'ing him in the 6th. The Champ responded the next
day in his revenge match, but The Freak had already served notice
to the Beirut community and grabbed the #2 ranking in the most thrilling
victory of his young career.
